The Level 2 Award for 'Refresher Security officers' is compulsory training for those who are seeking to renew their SIA Security Guarding Licence. The Security Industry Authority (SIA) has made the  Refresher Security officers course a prerequisite qualification to apply for Security Guard license renewal. The Refresher Security Guarding course is a 1-day training. We provide this training every week Thursday. The course fee is £120. SIA has made the Emergency First Aid at Work training a prerequisite qualification for joining the Refresher Security Guarding course. If you do not have the First Aid qualification you need to join the First Aid training. We provide the First Aid training every week Thursday and the course fee is £50. The total cost for Refresher Security Guarding and First Aid training is £150. You can book the Refresher Security Guarding course for £100 separately or with First Aid for £150 from the course list. After the training, you will receive your certificate in 7- 10 days. We can also assist you to apply for SIA Licence.

The course consists of two units:

  • Principles of Terror Threat Awareness in the Private Security Industry
  • Principles of Minimising Personal Risk for Security Officers in the Private Security Industry

Unit 1: Principles of Terror Threat Awareness in the Private Security Industry

  • Understand terror threats and the role of the security operative in the event of a threat
  • Identify the different threat levels
  • Recognise the common terror attack methods
  • Recognise the actions to take in the event of a terror threat
  • Identify the procedures for dealing with suspicious items
  • Identify behaviours that could indicate suspicious activity
  • Identify how to respond to suspicious behaviour

Unit 2: Principles of Minimising Personal Risks for Security Officers in The Private Security Industry

  • Know how to minimise risk to personal safety at work.
  • Identify responsibilities for personal safety at work.
  • Identify situations that might compromise personal safety.
  • Identify the risks of ignoring personal safety in conflict situations
  • State the personal safety benefits of undertaking dynamic risk assessments.
  • List ways to minimise risk to personal safety at work.
  • Recognise the different types of personal protective equipment relevant to the role of a security officer
  • State the purpose of using body-worn cameras (BWC)
  • Identify strategies that can assist personal safety in conflict situations.

The SIA Security Officer Refresher is a 1 day training, the course starts every week Thursday and the course fee is £100. There is an additional charge of £50 for mandatory First Aid training if you do not hold a valid First Aid qualification. Security Industry Authority (SIA) has made the Emergency First Aid at Work training a prerequisite qualification for joining the SIA Security Officer Refresher course. The total cost of your Door supervisor and First Aid training is £150. The 1 day SIA Security Officer Refresher training includes First Aid training. After the training, you will receive your certificates in 7- 10 days and then you need to apply for the SIA badge for renewal.

Normally we receive the result or certificate in 7-10 days from your exam date and we will inform you via email or SMS as soon as we receive your results or certificate.

You have the choice to collect the certificate physically from the training centre. We may post the certificate to you via recorded delivery upon request. We will retain your certificate for up to 8 weeks and we will not accept any liability if you fail to collect your certificate within the allocated period.
